How far is Zlatna Greda?

Zlatna Greda is only 30 km north from Osijek, and average travel time is 35 min by car. There are several directions you can access, all of them you can check out on our Map of the area. We recommend cycling through Kopački rit. You will enjoy the scenery and pristine nature!

What clothing should students wear during School in nature?

It is recommended that students wear long sleeves and dress in layers due to differences in temperature in the morning and afternoon.

Should we bring something for School in nature workshops?

We provide all material and equipment for workshops (worksheets, pencils), and you are free to bring binoculars or camera.

What are the odds of encountering some wildlife?

Kopački rit and Zlatna Greda are abundant with wildlife. Although this is not a ZOO and there are no guarantees everyone will see some wildlife, it often happens that groups encounter herds of red deer, wild boars, eagles, or, during summer months, turtles, snakes (no venomous ones).

What is the best season for visiting?

Every season! Each season has its beauty and uniqueness. You can check our calendar to find out more.

When does the flood season start?

Usually at the end of April and May when the snow starts to melt in the Alps. But, since lately the weather conditions are unstable floods can occur even in summer or autumn.

What do to when it’s flood season?

During flood season some activities and areas are not accessible but new opportunities occur. Paddling with canoes through flooded forest is one of the most attractive programs.

What about mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes are residents of Kopački rit and they tend to be unpleasant. If that is the case we provide hats with protective nets. We advise to bring repellents just to be safe. We will let you know when its mosquito season.

What to wear and what to bring for hiking, canoe, safari tours?

Outdoor clothing, preferably in natural colors (not very bright or colorful). It is always good to bring some light raincoat, and extra shirt just in case.

I have never paddled with a canoe. Is that a problem?

Every tour starts with a short paddling course and basic instructions about how to behave while on the water. During your trip, the guide with accompany you and provide advice.

Is it safe to paddle in canoes?

All participants are accompanied by expert guide. They also have life vests and water-proof bag. The stability and speed is up to your abilities and coordination.

We are a family with small children. If we want to go on a safari or canoes, are there any alternative activities for the kids?

Our guides work with children. All kinds of activities for children can be organised in the Eco centre.

What if it’s raining?

„There is no bad weather, only bad clothing“, Norwegian proverb. In the case of bad weather it is always possible to find an alternative activity or to postpone it until the weather clears up.
